About Gardena
Gardena has a rich history in southern California, from its beginnings with a famous American Civil War General William Stark Rosecrans residing here to the early years of auto racing culture. It was considered a patchy green area and a rich harvest field of many berries to be shipped to neighboring cities. Many Mexicans, Italians, Koreans, and Japanese immigrated here over the years, and many different cultures have made their home, as seen when cruising through the streets and boulevards.
This city was also part of the arts, from many films and Television shows shot here to our local Gardena High School, which obtained one of the most unique collections of paintings in SoCal. Athletes from national sports teams to Olympic winners also grew up here, which can inspire those trying to make it to the pro level. Everyone born and raised here surely knows that known cities in South Bay may surround it, but there is something special about this place we call home.
To continue to bring more awareness of the city's historical importance, we always attempt to gather more historical items and stories to share with future residents and those who want to know more about what Gardena has to offer!

Who Are We?
The Gardena Historical Society is currently a History club. We aim to become an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. In the meantime, we gather, preserve, and exhibit historical items from Gardena. The city has hidden all around to develop an awareness of the historical background.
